  1. Oh Fuck! amazing!! Thanks for this fanfic guys! Its simply one of the bests short story of Batman that I ever readed.

if the "SOLO" publications still existed, this would be one of the stories I like to read on that DC publication.

    Nice work!

  5. mmm It is very good, nice grafics and visually it excelent... But im dont know why everything has to end in a physical love. There a lot more complex kind of love. The relationship between the Joker and Batman is psychological, in order for Batman to feel that martyr complex, there has to be that counterpart, and what better character than a crazy person. Batman is a detective and he can´t figure out Joker thoughts, and what better challenge for a man that is use to have everything and knows everything, Batman wont kill Joker until he can predict everything he is thinking, and that will never happen, so the game will go on and on. On the other side for Joker its all just a fun game, Batman is the only one that wants to play with him, its like playing with a mouse in a maze and have him running around and driving him crazy, if he kills him, the game will end, why killing if you can torture?

That´s what make Batman a very rich story, the complexity of its characters. To say everything is summon in a physical love... was something you knew will be shocking for everybody but I think its a very easy way to end everything.

Well this is only my opinion.

    1. I must say, I totally desagree. This is all psychological, existential, emotional kind of love. Not physical at all. They just hold their hands as an ending Metaphore of two opposite forces that complete each other. Is like ying and yang, you know? The epic battle betwen good an evil, the romance that lies between chaos and order, the really thin and poetic line between lies and truth. I do understand what you said about the easy ending. For someone whos been a huge fan of Batman must be a kinda corny easygoing death of this two legendary characters, but, in my oponion this is a very valid, possible and not to mention, remarkable version of events.
      Regards.

    2. Bit is closer to the truth, there is an overemphasis on physical love. The existential relationship is there too of course, but too often today's shallow fashions are unable to distinguish. Confusion and superficiality are perhaps inevitable when the many kinds of love depend on that single word to express them. And fashion is always shallow.

  6. I can't even explain what this amazing story made me feel. The styls, the coloring, the narrative (both, visual and written). Its just Fucking flabbergasting. Mostly, the hidden relationship between Batman and The Joker its so poetic. They truly need each other, fit each other needs. Ive always thought it was a true love kind of relationship. But this really perfectly explores that necessity to give each other the meaning for the purpose of their lives. Congrats. Your work is impeccable.

  8. This comic states that good and evil are at the same level, i.e. good generates evil, and evil generates good.
Nice snack to feel excited by emotions for a while, but then boring.
Man and woman complements and generates life, its a funny and shitty comparison to state that good and evil complents.
Good comic for hollywood story hope to see it soon at blockbuster.

    1. This comic states that you are one of that cannot believe in not believe in nothing. The good and evil are only handy meanings to control the human behaviour. Of course, while they have been grown during the time, they became more complex to disassociate our perspectives about any reason to be or not. And, really, this comic is good enough to not be in any blockbuster.

To the autor of the comic: Thanks, and a lot.

It reminds me of that controversial artwork where a guy put a crucifix in a jar of piss.

I didn't care much for that piece of 'art' either.

  22. I agree with Jeff Smith.
Kinda missed the point about Batman!

    ResponderEliminar
  23. Ignore Jeff Smith. While he has every right to believe what he wants and has his own opinions so does everyone else. Art is an emotion filled work. Any piece of art that has meaning is very much worth calling "Art" for that is it's very purpose. He has his right to not agree with it, but the author of the story has even more right to believe in it since he had the passion to translate it into a piece of art.

I've always believed that if Batman and the joker where real they would be much more sadistic then the comics are allowed to show. Unfortunately that is the way the world is. Great work.

    1. So what is it, Ron? Is everyone entitled to their own opinion, or just the folks with whom you agree? Because it doesn't really seem to me like you really respect Jeff's opinions all that much.

And it IS just his opinion, Ron. He never tried to pass his musings off as anything more. He certainly didn't suggest that they ought to invalidate other people's like you seem to think he did. I'm sure that he would respect the fact that you like it, just as you ought to be capable of respecting the fact that he doesn't. Telling folks to ignore his opinions because you can't hang with 'em is both petty and childish. Grow up, Ron.

I'm inclined to agree with him, by the way. I found the dialogue to be pretentious and the art wildly inconsistent at best. I don't think that the piece was terrible by any stretch of the imagination. I just didn't like it. If you did, more power to you. I just think you ought to lean how to respect other people and their opinions is all, just the same as you surely must want folks to respect you and yours. That's all. That's my advice. Take it or leave it, I don't really care.

  26. Not a bad story, the art seems inspired by Bill Pope, or Rafael Grampas. The Killing Joke is one indication of Batman's and Joker's relationship, then there's Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. If the end does come for these characters I suspect it would be murder\suicide.

  40. The art is great and the intention noble, but no, it is a mistaken understanding of dharma. The point is never to fix attachment to the material and the cycles of life and death by making a choice or action on the outside; it is to make a choice to detach on the inside. By killing them both, Batman makes just as attached just as big a mistake as if he had let the Joker die in vengeance while angry. The true archetype for Batman, for the Hero, is Arjuna. He experiences the whole Divine truth of what the text hear seeks to describe, and then, detached he goes about his dharma: he is a warrior and kills much of his own family because they are doing terrible things and he must make it right. He does not say, "Well it's all One and I don't like the wheel, so fuck it". He does what he is born to do. Likewise Bruce's dharma is to protect, even avenge (by the early comics) injustice. His proper response to the Joker is: "If that is so, if you love me, then stop doing ill, and do good as I do. Let us be together as friends." But the Joker is insane and cannot do this. So that's why Batman has his dharma fighting him, tiresome wheel or no; it is what it is; it is right. By doing it with detachment and knowledge of the real Truth behind it, Batman will attain Liberation. "Zen is not thinking about God while peeling potatoes; Zen is peeling potatoes."

      Eliminar
    3. This is a disturbing comic. (It seems intended to be. Good job for that.) The main theme of the story justifies psychotic behavior, "evil" behavior, and following through such logic you can justify genocide or any other atrocity. Both "The Killing Joke" and "The Dark Knight Returns" series do humanize The Joker because Batman treats him like a human. But, I think to have the Joker say that he and Batman are soul-mates and to have the Batman CONDONE this notion in any way makes any thoughtful reader MORALLY BETTER than Batman, in which case Batman loses his hero status. More consistent to the characters of Batman and the Joker would be the "twins" meme. Indeed, The Joker likes to use this psychology against batman by saying "you're just like me". Batman's concern that he is just another masked criminal motivates his intentional resolve not to kill bad guys and even not to let them die by their own machinations if he can help it. (The twin theme is used with Thor and Loki to good effect. But, note well, that Thor and Loki are both members of the gods' club and their bond with each other is greater than Thor's bonds with any human.) I do think the twins idea undermines Batman's motivations as a character, because Batman is primarily a defender of Justice in a corrupt world and if he needs the Joker for this then it's not about Justice at all and again the Batman loses his heroic status.
Batman is primarily a Christian icon, a militant Christian icon derived from medieval Christianity; he is the "caped CRUSADER", "the dark KNIGHT". Although, his universal appeal has more to do with his adherence to the classical Greek virtues re-imagined as Prudence, Justice, Temperance, and Fortitude than the theological notions of Faith Hope and Charity. This, the knight's code, is central to Batman's character; without this code there is no Batman. And this is why, in my opinion this short comic is not a good Batman story, (APART FROM THE FACT THAT IT RATIONALIZES PSYCHOTIC BEHAVIOR!). I am racking my brains to come up with an example of a story that successfully conflates medieval Christianity with the beyond good and evil (or indeed, prior to good and evil) notions of yin and yang, or the Hindus/Buddhists' cycles of death and rebirth. Remember the "evils" that put Prince Siddhartha on his path to Buddha-hood were the inevitable decay of the body, i.e. old age, the corruptibility of the body, i.e. sickness, and the irrecoverable loss of the body, i.e. death. While these are forces of destruction, the notion that one can "suit up" in your super-hero costume and defeat them is absurd. (But see Ingmar Bergman's "The Seventh Seal".) Likewise, in my reading of the Bhagavad Gita, I don't find it to be a story of "good versus evil", rather Krishna responds to Prince Arjuna's existential angst by explaining that it's no good denying the priority of human affairs you have to do your best anyway, (rather simplified); but it's not about defeating and destroying actual manifestations of "evil". So the trouble with this comic is the same trouble that always arises when you try to combine the philosophy/theology (truth) of the ruling class, (a belief founded on personal responsibility on the one hand and historical legitimacy on the other, such as a caste system), with the philosophy/theology (truth) of the subjected class, (a belief system founded on the idea of unjust persecution in a corrupt world and the notion of divine punishment of corrupt beings, notably in some other world), - you get a justification for murder. (I do think that St. Paul's Christianity, however, is consistent with Buddhist beliefs or at least not antagonistic toward it.)
Trying to have it both ways leads to fictional and logical inconsistencies.

  50. Only complaint is that you cut it off before Bill Hicks tells us to donatr money to africa. Seems kind of tangential. But the part about the amusement park ride definitely jives with the story....that the joker could be the sane one trying to reveal some nihilistic sense of the world to Batman. But the Joker wouldn't suggest donating money to Africa... just a bit random. Also awaken is a verb. Not an adjective. Other than that brilliant style. Amazing story. I would frame any one of these images.

  55. The writing is mostly terribad. Grammatically, it's a nightmare ("I'm just... awaken"), and the speech is uneven and unnatural. Beyond which, these characters simply aren't Batman and the Joker. The motivations are murky, and the repeated instances of "I love you" and the Joker talking about wanting to be "naked again" are so massively out of character that it almost feels like it's going towards some bizarre slash fanfic ending. Beyond which, the quote from Hicks doesn't really have any connection to this weird little narrative, especially at the end when it goes on about getting rid of the military and teaching children. Not sure what you were after, here, but this is pretty far from the mark.

Also, Batman's lips look like someone stretched out a dried raccoon sphincter around his teeth. What the hell is up with that? I will say I liked the backgrounds and the Joker's blimp, though.

not totally sure about the need for his death.. but it certainly drives home the idea of letting go of the illusory paradigm.

    It's like:
"You might think I'm the one you think you'd need guarding you, but (in my heart of hearts) I know I'm the one you'd need to disappear and let go off" - the Bman is our shield against those things we fear. Let go of your fear and you will put down the shield.. imagine what a load off that might be.

Still.. what of the dead? what do we do with death?

  90. To those who are offended by this art, I suggest you walk to the nearest museum and look at some of what people consider "modern art". What they pay thousands of dollars for. This is free. Yes for the simple copyright reasons but it speaks volumes to true art. It should be free. No restrictions. As a longtime Batman fan, I feel this story encapsulates a feeling that these characters are more than just two people, they are two sides of the same person. One has driven his mind and body to fight against disorder and chaos and the other throws himself deep into the void of chaos and disorder. Just for the art alone I think this piece is perfection. I'm impressed that it even bothered to go beyond fan fiction and really give us a story to think about. To the creators of this comic I say thank you. Thank you for sharing this story with us and please share more.

  91. An amazing Graphic novel type story. As crazy as the one where Batman drowned the Joker while he was stabbing him.

  93. This is the most magnificent, brilliant and emotionally powerful superhero story I have ever read. This is genius, and the artwork matches the tone and feeling exactly. Even the use of color contributes to the message. Beyond wonderful. Thank you for this. I will always think of Batman and Joker like this, forevermore.

  94. Not that anyone asked, but here's my thoughts

    1. The dichotomy and interdependence of Batman and The Joker has already been done by Alan Moore in " The Killing Joke" a much better book with a much better (and ambiguous) ending.

    2. The trite Bill Hicks quote detracts from the story and makes the whole thing pretentious.

    3. The ending is completely out of character in regards to Batman. Above all, he is resilient in adversity. He, protects Gotham so that some other 8 year old boy won't see his parents murdered in some back alley. Choosing suicide because he suddenly feels that the only way to truly stop the cycle of violence caused by the Joker is to end both their lives is not true to who he is in his respective universe

  97. I'm thinking what I would like to see is the events that lead up to this event. That would be really cool.

  99. Regardless of how in character the ending would be (not, btw), or the Bill Hicks quote (I like it, and it fits, and it's fanfiction, so normal rules need not apply) the comic above shows remarkable craftsmanship from the artist. The panel layouts (the flash to Alfred comforting Bruce), the sense of motion from the mangaesque lines, the feeling of height from the panel where Batman holds the Joker over the city. The word bubbles are perfect beat timing, totally fitting the image and enhancing the flow of the comic. The faces sort of remind me of how Paul Pope used to draw faces. All big lips and teeth and lines.

  105. kind of out of character for batman no? i mean alfred dies and suddenly he loses hope? his parents death was the reason he started his crusade so wouldn't alfred's death just make him stronger?

  108. people once dreamed of a utopian society and we have never been so far from it
lets face it utopia died the same month reagan was elected and with his satanic handmaiden thatcher
they gave birth to the NWO, the coprorations, the uber rich, the yuppy, massive crass materialism
financial fundementalism under god and the mighty dollar follwed by reality tv were everyone can be famous
    the kardashians inherited the earth................
    and utopia was gone

  110. Many here don't realize the Chris Nolan Batman movies were an allegory for the War on Terror, and so is this comic strip. The message at end is superb and fitting, and it encompasses more than the topic at hand. It explains the clash of darkness and light within every facet of life, and every human heart.

    1. No... it explains that darkness only serves light... everything is love in the end.

  116. Well, great job.
I don't like it, though, I think Batman wouldn't give up so easy. Just remember his fight against Bane. He was fighting all these criminals although he had enough of this dreaming about the end, but he knew that Gotham need him. I don't know, story is good, but I cannot accept Batman's end, not this way.

  122. The only problem is that love doesn't chop up innocent people and put them in a box. Love takes other people seriously and doesn't force itself on anyone. The comic is wonderfully done but the message is a complete distortion and the metaphor is just crooked. If you don't take the text at face value you can see a subtlety though, it shows how a fanatical belief in unchecked spiritual delusions can persuade you and others to believe what you are doing is truly good and loving, when in fact it is self centered, calloused and perhaps down right evil. Not a bad psychological profile for the Joker: a man enraptured by prelest.
